Success doesn’t always have to involve
money. In fact, it usually involves happiness, built from your
relationships with others. You can be one of the richest people on
earth, but if you are unhappy, you’re not successful.
I’ve been asked about this many times.
They say “Darryl, how do you run two Tungsten companies and find time to
keep yourself happy?” Let me share my secret with you. It may not work
for everyone, but it works for me.
8 Questions
Every night, before I go to bed, I ask
myself these questions. They focus mainly on my impact with the world.
If I answer “no” to any of them, it motivates me to try harder until I
can confidently say “yes.”
- Have I made sure my loved ones feel loved?
- Have I worked on keeping my body healthy?
- Have I reviewed my plans for the future?
- Have I avoided hurtful words and harmful actions?
- Have I helped someone less fortunate than myself?
- Did I make any good memories today?
- Have I learned anything new today?
- Did I feel grateful to be alive?
If you answer “no” to all of those
questions, you are not successful. At least, not yet. Keep asking
yourself the questions, every single night, before you go to bed. Better
yet, write them down, and keep a log of your answers.
By doing that, you’re training yourself
to turn those into “yes” answers. You’ll start thinking of the questions
during the day, and how you can satisfy them. You’re training yourself
to focus on what’s really important.
If you can turn them all from “no”
answers into “yes,” on a consistent basis, you’ll feel much more
satisfied with your life. If you have any trouble doing that, drop me a
line at Darryl Hicks Tungsten, and I’ll be glad to help.
